What Ingredients Are In A Typical Margarita?
By definition, a margarita is a co*cktail with tequila and citrus juice. The classic margarita co*cktail usually contains tequila, orange liqeur and lime juice. It is often served over ice or frozen. Sometimes the rims of the glasses are covered in salt or sugar.
What Is In This Keto Margarita?
What we are using to make a keto strawberry margarita slush is ice, fresh strawberries, Torani sugar free strawberry syrup, lime juice and tequila. I’ve omitted the orange liqeur because it has added sugar and would take away from the strawberry taste.
Note I like ReaLime juice because it doesn’t have any carbs and that is what I used. However we are only using 1 tablespoon so you could use a real lime if you wish.
How To Make A Strawberry Margarita Slush
First of all I love my Vitamix high speed blender. I bought it 5 years ago and I use it just about everyday of my life. So you want to use a good blender.
Place the ice and strawberries into the blender, then the tequila, Torani sugar free strawberry syrup and Realime juice. Blend on high until you get a nice slush going. Next taste it and see if it is sweet enough or has enough liquor for your taste. I used 4 shots of tequila in this recipe which made 2 drinks. You can use less if you wish but we like to be able to taste the tequila.
Do I Have To Use Tequila?
Tequila is traditionally used in all margaritas but there is no reason you can’t use vodka or rum in this recipe. Also if you want to make a mocktail (which I did for my son) you don’t need to add any alcohol and it will still taste great.
Recipe Tips And Notes
- Fresh strawberries are best in this recipe but you could use frozen. You would probably want to use less ice though. Cut the amount of ice in half and go from there.
- If you don’t have any Torani sugar free strawberry syrup, you could use your favorite sweetener and some strawberry extract.
- If you don’t have any strawberry extracteither you could eliminate it but you might have less strawberry flavor and you would sill need to add sweetener.
- You can also change up the liquor if you don’t like tequila. Try vodka or rum or eliminate all alcohol for a mocktail.
Well this is the first of my slushy obsession. I’ve since made a keto ginger peach slushy that I will publish next week. They are so tasty and best of sugar free!

All I can say is I want one of those adult slushes right now. It’s hotter than Hades out there and sipping on a strawberry flavored drink would be idea. This recipe comes at a perfect time. Our stores are all filled with strawberries and we’ve been picking up quarts weekly. Now all I have to do is get some tequila.
