COEBURN – With its seniors leading the way, Gate City won for the first time under new coach LeAnn Overbay in Tuesday evening’s 25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 26-24 victory over Eastside.
Outside hitter Peyton Taylor just missed a double-double with a dozen kills and nine digs while senior setter Georgia Griffis dished out 14 assists and came up with seven digs with senior libero Emma Rhoton bringing up nine digs and serving six aces.
Casey McDavid and Adrianna Lane, both juniors, notched five kills and sophom*ore setter Sophie Webb handed out 17 assists to go with five digs.
“I’m really proud of this group’s overall team effort and desire to come together,” said Lane. “They are taking what we learn in practice and applying it in games immediately…and it showed tonight with spreading the offense & our defensive efforts. I’m looking forward to seeing how successful this season will be.”

ELIZABETHTON — Mela Brice assisted the Lady Indians to the 25-19, 25-13, 21-25, 25-16 win over the Lady Cyclones at Treadway Gymnasium.
Brice finished with 41 handouts on the night with Jo McLain pounding down a dozen kills and Kyla Blye 11 to go with three service aces. Norah Shook came through with seven kills.
The defense was paced by Arden Bateman’s 17 digs and Lucy Roberts’ four blocks. Blye also picked up seven digs with Milly Williams and Mela Brice collecting five apiece.
Ava George Wilber led the Lady Cyclones with eight kills and five blocks. Jasy Shell and Zoe Proffitt notched six kills apiece while Jocelin Julian and Abby Gwinn handed out 13 and 12 assists respectively. Zyleigh Bates came up with nine digs
Daniel Boone 3, Morristown East 1
GRAY — Taylor Brinn and Ashlyn Seymore combined for 31 kills in the Lady ‘Blazers 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19 win over Morristown East at Bobby Snyder Gymnasium.
Seymour finished with 17 kills with Brinn contributing 14 kills to go with six digs for the Lady ‘Blazers. Ella Wilson and Mallory Carpenter both added five kills with Carpenter picked up seven blocks and Wilson seven digs. Brinn pitched with six digs and Seymore came up with five.
Addison Dietz facilitated the Boone attack with 39 assists while adding eight digs, three kills and three aces.
Haven Barney led the Lady ‘Blazer defense with 15 digs. Katie Sparks came through with 12 and Ella Byrd ten. Ella Wilson finished with seven digs.
Science Hill 3, Sullivan East 0
BLUFF CITY — Chelsea Blaine continued her strong play with 14 kills and two blocks as the Lady ‘Toppers easily swept past the Lady Patriots for the second time this season, 25-13, 25-9, 25-16 at the Dyer Dome.
Ella Neal delivered 33 assists and added five kills and two aces for Science Hill. Addi Stables punched six kills and brought up ten digs. Chloe Conner notched eight kills and served a team-high six aces. Clara McBride and Bryleigh Scott came through with four kills apiece and Scott three blocks. Avery Bragg collected 11 digs.
East got eight kills from Sophie Johnson and 14 assits from Kyndl Hodge. Kylie Tolbert worked for seven digs for the Lady Patriots.
David Crockett 3, Jefferson County 0
JONESBOROUGH — Sydney Shelton distributed 25 assists in the 25-11, 25-15, 25-23 convincing Lady Pioneer sweep.
Kaylee Childress turned 11 of those handouts into kills while also serving four aces. Callie Butler hammered down seven kills and brought up 11 digs.
Kara Coggins stuffed the stat sheet with nine digs, six kills and three aces. Katie Onks came up with a team-high 14 digs.
Volunteer 3, Claiborne 0
CHURCH HILL — A balanced offense kept the Lady Falcons unbeaten in Twin Lakes Conference play with a 25-8, 25-3, 25-7 destruction of the visiting Bulldogs.
Kayla Capson paced the offense with ten kills with Adah Snodgrass right behind with nine. The Lady Falcon service game was also strong with Capson recording five aces and Mattie Crowder four.
Lily Christian was again at the controls with 29 assists. Defensively, Chloe Redwine was the leader with 13 digs and Isabella Byington in blocks with three. Snodgrass added nine digs and Crowder six.
Providence Academy 3, First Baptist 0
JOHNSON CITY – The Lady Knights also stayed unbeaten in conference play at 3-0 with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-19 sweep of First Baptist Academy.
Alyssa Coburn notched five kills and Ava Thomas 23 digs for Providence. Margo Baldridge came through with nine digs.
Skylar Olds handed out 13 assists and Ellie Smith seven.
